Aftercare When You Need It Most
Look, nobody wants to think about this stuff until they have to. Your dog just passed, or your cat’s not doing well, or maybe the vet just told you it’s time – and now you’re googling “what do I do with my pet’s body” at 2am. Been there. Our team at All About Town Pet House Calls handles pet cremation throughout Palm Beach County, and we’ll give it to you straight without the corporate speak.

Private or Communal – Here’s What That Actually Means
Private Cremation
Your pet goes through the cremation process alone. You get their ashes back in a beautiful wooden urn with their name on it, a clay paw print, and a pawprint necklace containing some of the ashes – usually takes about 3-7 business days. Most people choose this when they want to keep the ashes at home, bury them in the backyard, or scatter them at a beach or park that has personal meaning.
Starts at $388 for smaller pets. Pricing scales with weight, which we know sounds clinical, but that’s just how it works.
Communal Cremation
Multiple pets are cremated together. No ashes come back to you, but they’re scattered at a local memorial site – respectfully, not just tossed somewhere random. Starts $250, which helps if budget’s a factor right now or you simply do not wish to have the ashes returned to you.
Neither choice is the “right” one. Depends what feels right to you and/or what you can afford. Our team has had clients do both at different times in their lives. No judgment either way.
I have known and used Dr Steve as my veterinarian for more than 20 years. From first shots, to the final moments, Dr. Steve is there. Oh yeah! House calls rock!!

We Handle All Types of Pets
Dogs and Cats
Obviously this is most of what we do. Chihuahuas to Great Danes, kittens to those ancient 20-year-old cats who’ve outlived everyone’s expectations. Size doesn’t matter – we handle them all the same way.
Small Pets
Rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, hamsters, birds – yeah, we do these too. Same cremation process, pricing based on weight. Our team had a woman last month who lost her rabbit after 12 years together. That grief is just as real.
Exotics
Have a bearded dragon? An iguana? Pot-bellied pig? We’ve probably seen it. If we haven’t, we’ll figure it out together. Just give us a call and we’ll talk through it.
How Pickup Actually Works
From Your Home:
We can pick up just about anywhere in Palm Beach County. Arrangements can be made for pickup from your home. Usually within a couple hours of when you call, or we can schedule something specific if you need to be there when we arrive. Some people want to be present, some don’t. Both are completely fine.
You Bring Them to Us:
Our facility’s in Lantana. Some folks prefer bringing their pet themselves – maybe it helps with closure, or they’re already nearby. We ask that you call us ahead of time before you do.
Timeline and What to Expect
Here’s how it typically goes:
- Cremation usually happens within 2-3 days after pickup
- For private cremations, ashes are usually ready in 3-7 business days
- You can pick them up at our Lantana location or request to have them shipped to you
We keep detailed records for every single private cremation. There’s an identification tag that stays with your pet through the entire process. You’re getting your pet’s ashes back, not someone else’s. We know people worry about that, so we’re telling you upfront.
What Families Say About Our Care
It was truly a blessing to find dr. Steve. I unfortunately had to bring him two kittens that i had given to my girlfriend that passed away from a very contagious virus. Dr. Steve and his staff were soooo sincere and beyond helpful. They even went the extra mile to take in the last kitten after hours, and sent a very sincere letter after our loss.

Memorial Stuff (Only If You Want It)
Some people want keepsakes. Others find them too painful or just don’t see the point. There’s no pressure here – we’re not trying to upsell you on things during the worst week of your year.
That said, if you do want something:
- Paw print impressions (clay or ink) – $25
- Fur clipping saved in a small keepsake bag
- Upgraded urns with engraving – $45 to $125 depending on style
- Memorial jewelry that holds a small amount of ashes
We work with some suppliers for custom requests too. If you’ve got something specific in mind, let us know and we’ll try to make it happen. Many special urn requests are available through our crematory or you may purchase your own online.
Areas We Cover
West Palm Beach, Lake Worth, Wellington, Boynton Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Riviera Beach, Delray Beach, Jupiter, Lantana – basically all of Palm Beach County. If you’re on the edges and not sure if we’ll come out there, just call. We probably will.
How much does pet cremation cost?
Depends on your pet’s size and whether you want private or communal. Small pets start around $250 for communal, $388 for private. Larger dogs cost more – it’s just the nature of the process. Call us and we’ll give you exact pricing once we know your pet’s approximate weight.
Can I be there for the cremation?
Yes. It’s an unusual request but it can be coordinated with the crematory. Most people don’t want to be there, to be honest, but it’s available if that’s important to you.
What if my pet dies at home overnight or on the weekend?
Call us anyway. We do pickups during our regular business hours. If we are not available our crematory service may be able to help you. 0
Do you handle exotic pets?
Most of them, yeah. Depends what you’ve got. Call and tell us – we’ll let you know straight up if we can handle it or if you need a specialist.
How do I know I’m actually getting my pet’s ashes back?
Every private cremation gets tracked individually. ID tag stays with your pet the whole time. This is something people worry about – rightfully so – and we take it seriously. You’re getting your pet’s ashes.
What about multiple pets who died around the same time?
We can do a shared private cremation where pets from the same family are cremated together. Some people want this for bonded pairs who lived together – they come home together. Just let us know that’s what you want.
Payment and Pricing
We try to keep this straightforward. You’re paying based on:
- Your pet’s weight
- Private vs. communal cremation
- Any add-ons you choose
- Where we’re picking up from
Grief Resources
Losing a pet is rough. Doesn’t matter if it’s a dog you had for 15 years or a rabbit your kids loved for 3. The grief is real, and anyone who tells you “it’s just a pet” doesn’t get it.
We can point you toward pet loss support groups and grief counselors in the area if you need someone to talk to who understands what you’re going through.
There’s no timeline on this stuff. Some people bounce back after a few weeks. Others struggle for months or longer. Both are completely normal.
When You Need Us
If your pet just passed, or if you know it’s coming soon and you’re trying to plan ahead, give us a call. We’ll walk through the options, answer whatever questions you have, and schedule pickup whenever you’re ready.
